ANTHRAX Bassist: 'This Is A Unified Band And We're Ready To Go'
November 10, 2010Wondering when you'll get a new ANTHRAX record? Fresh off their stint on the Jägermeister Music Tour with SLAYER and MEGADETH, ANTHRAX members Scott Ian, Joey Belladona and Frank Bello discuss what you can expect on their new record , due out in 2011. Watch the clip below.
Scott Ian: "We've been doing our best to try and move forward every day and we've been actually working on new material. We've got a song called 'Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't' that's pretty much ready to go; we've been doing it at soundcheck. Second song, which is called 'I'm Alive', and a song called 'Earth On Hell', which we're gonna be moving forward into this week. By the end of this tour, I don't think we'll be ready to record the record yet, but we'll be pretty far along, which gives us a good feeling that this record will actually come out next year, in 2011. . . We're not taking any crazy left turns or anything like that; it's metal. There's definitely elements of thrash. It's overall a metal record. It moves us forward creatively as a band, for sure. I mean, the best thing I can say about it is it certainly sounds like ANTHRAX."
Frank Bello: "We're all really bonded right now, which is a really good thing for us going forward. I can't wait to do this stuff. Joey's voice on our new music... there's a nice blend going on. We're all bonding really well on stage, off stage... People that wanna talk negative, it's just hilarious at this point 'cause this is a unified band and we're ready to go. I can't wait."
ANTHRAX will release the "Live At The Sonisphere" 10-inch single — a picture disc featuring the tracks "Medusa" and "Only" from the "The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria" DVD and Blu-ray — on November 26 via Metal Club, a group of record stores throughout the U.S. and Canada that work to connect the vibrant metal community with their local record store. Fans will be able to visit their local Metal Club store for special metal promotional pieces, exciting in-store events, and a series of exclusive Metal Club releases.
About the importance of independent record stores, ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante said: "Indie stores are our only hope! People should cherish these wonderful treasures. Go, get lost in an indie record store, you may discovery a band or record that could blow your mind."
"The Sonisphere concerts were some of the greatest shows for us," added vocalist Joey Belladonna, "and to have shared it with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH was just the best. It's an experience none of us will ever forget, and we're happy that our fans can share a little of that, and that ANTHRAX can be part of the Metal Club with this single."
